I just finished ordering my Valentine gifts. I expect to be out-of-town (FINALLY!) on the 14th. This year I am having my gifts delivered.

My main squeeze is getting flowers! HeHe! Last year he was telling me about all of his staffgirls getting bouquets so I am surprising him with a sweetheart bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath. I asked the florist to put it in one of those mirrorbox containers. How I wish I could be there when they are delivered. He will go apeshit. Men never get flowers and I like to teeter them a bit. I can just see him now. He will be bouncing all over. Especially when he reads the card!

Amazon is taking care of some of my presents…a book on erotica for K, one titled, “To Hell With Love” for W, Kim C’s “O” book for C, cookbooks for M, J, and the other J, a book on alienation for Z, and some “believe it or not” mysteries for my nephew. Amazon ships the stuff directly to them with gift cards from me. Cool, huh?

Okay, yes, I confess, I ordered a book for me too. It’s a replacement for one I lent out that was never returned. I miss it.

I would have ordered a surprise for my pal in Cali, but he is one secretive fellow, so he doesn’t get anything.

There!

Oh, I am making cookies this weekend. I went to a bakery supply store and was practically drooling the entire time. You should see all of the stuff they have just for bakers. It is amazing, thrilling, and fun. R and I spent almost two hours wandering the aisles.

I bought two sets of cookie cutters. One is a star, the other hearts. So I am making giant hearts. I plan to frost them in pink and add poignant sweetheart-message candies.

Here’s the recipe:

½ cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 ¾ cups flour

1 tablespoon milk

½ teaspoon vanilla

¼ teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and milk. Add everything else. Refrigerate dough for 2 hours. Roll out to 1/8” thick. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 12 to 15 minutes.

Happy Valentine’s Day to ALL of my SWEETHEARTS!!!!!!!

Happy B-Day February 5th to R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spank Me...

Wow! How about those patriots? They rumbled out bouncing all over the place. Looked like hopheads to me. Is that legal? And if it is, where do I sign up? Can't be the promise of Disney World. What are they told before they go out onto the field?

Blind patriotism, especially in a war against terrorism, is a terrifying thing. Did we forget Vietnam and the war profits? It is easy to start a war, difficult to stop it. I vote for the great cacaphony of Democracy, the varied voices singing out loud and strong. It doesn't matter if I disagree with someone's opinion. The way to get to truth is to hear everyone out.
Hermann Goering, a high-ranking Nazi official for those of you not into history, said this, "...the people can aways be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
Wake up America!

I made out with a rock star. It makes me feel like a gigantic loser, capital "L." He was a really really really good kisser though. Now I have groupie status, which means absolutely nothing. You never know who you may meet at the post office. It's not his fault. Mine neither.
